design philosophy

Since our first season of growing our own flowers, we have become endlessly inspired by the garden. Our designs embody the beauty we nurture inside our garden gate—with each arrangement and bouquet’s ingredients unique to that moment in time.

Our flower design philosophy is one that celebrates 100% American grown. We always start sourcing with local flower farmers in Missouri. We are perpetually expanding our own perennial collection and start seeds every winter to grow blooms especially for our wedding work.

sustainability efforts

We buy locally grown flowers as much as possible, reducing the excessive nature of wasteful single-use plastic packaging.

We support local artisans for handmade goods—such as pottery, ribbon, and paper—and shop secondhand first when sourcing vessels.

We say no to flower foam and instead work with reusable mechanics like flower frogs, chicken wire and disguised water sources such as water tubes.

We embrace natural beauty and do not support altering plant material with bleach, dye or spray paint.

We compost our flower scraps on our property instead of sending them to a landfill.

floret’s farmer-florist collective

As of summer 2023, we are excited to be a part of Floret’s Farmer-Florist Collective! Like so many newer florists and flower growers, Erin Benzakein was one of our first inspirations we discovered in the very beginning of our flower journey—of course my mentor Dallas Wildeve is to thank for telling me about Erin’s family farm back in 2014. Ever since then, I have followed their story closely! There is so much beauty to behold in their corner of Skagit Valley in Washington state.

The Farmer-Florist Collective is a resource for anyone looking for like-minded flower loves who focus on growing and designing seasonally with local and American grown flowers. I’m so proud that we can be a part of it as CLEMENTINE.
